Already the star of his own 1/2 hour Comedy Central special, and a writer/performer for the Off-Broadway hit The Marijuana-Logues, the hilarious Jimmy Dore takes on the government AND the easily misled, in CITIZEN JIMMY his new One Hour Comedy Central Special premiering summer '08.
From terrorism to health care, and from gay marriage to gas prices, Citizen Jimmy pulls no pre-emptive punches in dealing with the insanity of our times, and the riculousness of our leaders. If you like biting satire, you'll love it, if yuo are a fan of George Bush it could be torture, but you are probably ok with that anyway.
Jimmy was born into a Catholic family of twelve in a very blue-collar neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. Tagged a rebel for occasionally reading a book and thinking for himself, Jimmy quickly turned to comedy to ease the pain of the beatings.
In 1995, Jimmy moved to Los Angeles to get on television and it actually worked.
He broke into the television with a flurry of appearances on basic cable and then quickly moved to network tv in '97 with an appearance on NBC's Friday Night Videos. Jimmy quickly became a show favorite, returning 5 times in the next year.
Jimmy then showed off some acting chops as the recurring character "Danny" the hilarious neighbor on AMC’s Movies at My House.
He has been invited to perform at some of the most prestigious comedy festivals.
In 2003 Jimmy made a stand out performance at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. The Hollywood reporter said Jimmy was among the five comics at the
festival that generated the most "buzz".
Jimmy is also a writer/performer for the critically acclaimed Off Broadway hit,
The Marijuana-logues, It was a role Jimmy first played in Australia at the Melbourne Comedy festival in April of 2003.
Since then, Jimmy has made continued appearances on late night television, including The Late Late Show on CBS and Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.
He’s done a bunch of other stuff that you can see on his resume, including
hosting Pilot's for Comedy Central and AMC. But the main thing is his new special Citizen Jimmy. It sure looks pretty.
